July is one of the more popular months to get married. In the summer, there’s so many different styles you can do: beach wedding, indoor wedding, wedding with fireworks, garden wedding, Fourth of July theme, and more. The possibilities are endless!

Although July may be extra hot in Florida, the weather is still comfortable, especially with an ocean breeze and towards the evening/night hours. The natural Florida scenery in the summer is the perfect backdrop for all your photos.

For this article, our wedding team at Key West Harbour wanted to share some fun July wedding themes and ideas for you to incorporate into your wedding down here in Key West. Key West Harbour has luxurious, private wedding venue spaces that can accommodate different styles and sizes of weddings. Whether you want to be outdoors or inside, we have space for you! Our staff works with brides and grooms putting together every detail for the ceremony and reception.

  • Summer is cheerful, so go with bright colors like yellows, pinks, and blues. If you want a more Fourth of July/Americano look, use all red, white and blue!
  • Patterned dresses for bridesmaids and ties for groomsmen are a great summer look that’s fun.
  • Sunflowers and hibiscus are popular summer flowers to use for bouquets and centerpieces.
  • If you’re having your beach by the water an outside, provide sunglasses and flip flops for your guests.
  • It can get hot, so provide paper fans for your guests to use throughout the day and evening. You can even turn your programs into useable paper fans for the guests.
  • Wear a tea-length bridal gown or put your bridesmaids in shorter dressers for a cooler feel.
  • Let the groomsmen wear shorts!
  • Have a firework display at the end of the night for everyone to enjoy. Fireworks make everyone think of summer.
  • Provide chilled water, bug spray, umbrellas (in case it rains) for your guests during the ceremony and reception.
  • Put oversized umbrellas over ceremony chairs to keep the sun from beating down too hard on people.
  • Have your guest blow bubbles or throw beach balls as you leave the ceremony.
  • Being summer, create a nautical theme. Use lots of anchors, ropes, and stripes throughout your décor.
  • Create a beach theme. Use lots of shells, starfish, and mermaids throughout your décor.
  • Serve tropical drinks and water infused with different fruits.
  • Serve ice cream, cotton candy, hot dogs, and fried dough for a nostalgic summer carnival feel.
  • Set up badminton and volleyball nets for people to play during the reception.
  • Hang bright paper lanterns everywhere.

The ideas for a summer wedding in July are endless, but we hope we’ve inspired you just a bit with the above creative ideas. Have fun planning your big day. Our team at Key West Harbour would love to work with you to put your special day together.
